Quick and easy, this classic full immersion brew method has been around for many years and is widely used both by home coffee consumers and coffee professionals. Because of its metal filter, more oils and SEDIMENTS make it to your cup, which makes for a heavy body and rich cup of coffee.
What you need:
French Press
Grinder
Freshly Roasted Moja Coffee
Hot Water
Scale
Timer
Stir Stick
Mugs
recommended Measurements:
40g of coffee (6 tablespoons)
640g water
Grind coarse
brew time: 4 minutes
yields: 23 ounces
How to brew:
1. Heat & Rinse
Preheat the French Press with hot water
Let it sit while you do step 2
2. Measure & Grind
Measure out 40g of coffee or roughly 6 tablespoons
Grind the coffee to a coarse grind
Dump out the water from the French Press
Add the coffee to the bottom of the vessel
Place on scale and tare scale to 0
3. Saturate & Stir
Start timer and pour hot water over the coffee, just enough to cover it
Water should be just off the boil or at 205 degrees
Stir the coffee to ensure full saturation
Pour the remaining water until you reach 640g
Place the lid gently on top of the grounds and let it sit until the 4 minute mark. Do not plunge right away
4. Remove & Enjoy
At 4:00 mark, remove the French Press from the scale and slowly press the plunger down
When you’ve finished pressing, serve or decant the coffee immediately to avoid bitterness and enjoy your freshly brewed cup of Moja coffee!
